LIVE SET (sound engineering for teens)
Learn the art and science of sound engineering with top professionals in the field. Over the course of 10 evenings, local engineer Nalin Silva and peers teach students about how to manipulate sound and why the systems work the way they do.
Students will have hands on practice connecting PA systems, running a mixing board, and setting up a stage for a performance. This class culminates with a live performance of local professional musicians that is fully mixed by the students in the Youth Music Project’s Meteor Lounge venue.
This is a one-of-a-kind chance for young musicians, music fans, engineers, technical artists and creative types of all kinds to learn a valuable, interesting and employable skill – how to make live music and amplified audio sound its best in performance settings.
Dates: Wednesdays January 10-March 7th (9 class sessions)
Students will then showcase their sound skills at the March 16th Teen Open Mic Night where they will run the sound.
